Visiting Expert: James Arruda
Once a month, the TAG program hosts a visiting expert who comes to give a presentation during one class period. Any interested TAG students can come to D102 to receive a permission form.
November's visiting expert is: JAMES ARRUDA
James Arruda works as a Research Engineer at the Georgia Tech Research Institute. He holds a BA and MS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Kansas and the Georgia Institute of Technology. He performs systems engineering research, which is focused on efficiently understanding and designing complex systems. His research areas include vehicle design and modeling, AI and machine learning, and software design. Mr. Arruda will talk about some of those activities, showing how to think flexibly about complex problems and best use your education to do so, and share how he got involved in research at GT.

Fall TAG Testing
Students with qualifying AND supporting data will complete some testing to determine eligibility for gifted services. Students make take all or some of the following tests:
- CoGAT Cognitive Abilities Test
- Stanford Achievement Test
- Torrance Test of Creativity
These tests will be given during the school day in October.

Fall TAG Screening
TAG's fall testing is based on Automatic screening, where the Eligibility Team looks at student data like PSAT scores, GA Milestone scores, and cumulative averages to identify students to test for Gifted Services. Students must have qualifying information and supporting data to be eligible for testing.

Come before school begins to get your schedule, locker, and more! While you're here, make sure you have an 8th period TAG class on your schedule that lists Ms. Pekatos as your teacher. Stop by her classroom in D102 to say hi and ask her any questions!
